Project Connect is designed to be a program for students to access job experience and employment while in full-time studies. Project Connect will bridge the gap between students and jobs aligned with their interests and career goals while fostering experiential learning and entrepreneurship. By connecting students to professors and student and local businesses, we provide practical job experience, and skill development, and assist our communities’ needs. The program offers personalized career counseling, workshops tailored to students' interests, a $1000 financial honorarium, and flexible part-time jobs during fall and winter semesters.
1. Signup at the link above by October 18th
Students provide some basic information about themselves, what they are interested in, strengths, and their resume.
2. Launchbox reviews each application & matches students with relevant projects
Students are then matched with projects based on their skillsets, strengths, and interests. If there are not enough projects for each student, we will save their information for next semester or if new projects are submitted.
3. Students go through 1 on 1 onboarding
Launchbox staff will reach out to each student who has been selected and set up a 1 on 1 onboarding with them the week of January 29th. This is to confirm the students interest in accepting the role and to go through what is expected of them.
4. Students attend a group orientation
Students who have been selected for a project will meet in Launchbox to go through the program outline, expectations, and a brief session on time management. This will be the final checkpoint for students to ask questions before being connected with the business.
5. Students and Businesses are connected within the month of November
Students and businesses will be connected within the month of November. An initial introduction meeting will be hosted between students, businesses and Launchbox staff. In this meeting, students and the businesses will discuss their mutual goals for the project, what they hope to get out of it, and set achievable milestones for each other. Launchbox staff will help facilitate this process.
6. Students start working!
Following the student-business meeting students will be expected to start working on their projects with the help of the business. Launchbox will check in regularly with each student 1 on 1, host group coaching sessions, and a final workshop to keep students on track and help develop new skills. More info below!
