Lisa Lowthers

Lisa has 30 years of experience in helping develop and validate business models. Having started in the for profit sector, she expanded to working in the nonprofit sector 15 years ago. She understands the importance of community engagement and the optics of municipality-led development enhancing the existing business ecosystem rather than competing with it, having worked for two municipalities in the past - once in recreation and once in business development and recruitment. She has been part of the development of three food related markets in the past two years, and has done several projects with the Wolfville Farmers Market and one with the NS Farmers Market Association. As Founding Chair of a food security nonprofit in the Annapolis Valley she understands the challenges and opportunities for local markets to bring local food closer to the tables of local residents, and of how these third spaces build community resilience.
